Original Title: Víctimas del Pecado
Victims of Sin (1951) tells the fiery and heartfelt story of Violeta (Ninón Sevilla), a rumbera (nightclub dancer) who sacrifices everything to raise an abandoned child. She fights to protect him from the seedy underworld of Mexico City’s dance halls and the violent men who inhabit it.
Driven by the dream collaboration of iconic starlet Ninón Sevilla in one of her defining roles, legendary cinematographer Gabriel Figueroa at the height of his noir-infused style, and Golden Age master Emilio Fernández’s flair for gripping drama, Victims of Sin stands as a landmark of Latin American melodrama.
