Synopsis

One of the most mesmerising films of the year, Oliver Laxe’s Cannes Jury Prize winner Sirât (2025) transports us to the surreal world of desert raves, where the promise of salvation still lingers. Amid an endless party in the Moroccan desert, a middle-aged father searches for his missing daughter. The strangers he encounters are kind and open—but they can’t help mocking him. Yet, as the French-Galician director reveals, in the desert, as in a rave, there is no need to hide; people are free to be unapologetically themselves. With a sublime techno score by Kangding Ray, Sirât offers a rare gift: true connection and hope at the end of the world.
