Richard LinklaterSynopsis
Experience the chaos behind one of the most influential films of the 20th century.
Richard Linklater’s latest film is a black-and-white dramatisation of the making of Jean-Luc Godard’s debut feature, Breathless (1960). Filmed and edited in the distinctive style of the French New Wave, Nouvelle Vague (2025) follows a sunglasses-clad Godard (Guillaume Marbeck) as he fights to realise his vision and upend cinematic convention—frustrating everyone around him in the process.
Faithful to history, the film captures the guerrilla-style production: improvised shooting, unsynced sound and spontaneous camera work, alongside the creative tensions with crew and producers that nearly drove Jean Seberg off set.
