Synopsis

The waters are rising around Louisiana’s rapidly disappearing Isle de Jean Charles—a narrow strip of land under threat from climate change. It’s also home to teenagers Howard and Juliette, who have been living there with their Uncle Chris since the tragic loss of their parents. As part of a historic U.S. government-led relocation project—the first of its kind—the family must say goodbye to the only home they've ever known. With poetic cinematography and a quietly observational style, Lowland Kids (2025) is an intimate and powerful meditation on resilience, belonging, and the heartbreaking reality of climate displacement.
