CFF Youth Lab Applications Now Open for 2025–26


Are you a young person aged 16–24 with a passion for film and creativity? 

The Cambridge Film Festival (CFF) Youth Lab is now open for applications, and we’re looking for 15 new members to join our year-round programme from September 2025.

The CFF Youth Lab offers a unique opportunity to explore the world of film, storytelling, and cultural events from behind the scenes. Members help plan public screenings, host events, and bring cinema to underrepresented communities across Cambridge. Along the way, you’ll meet filmmakers, gain hands-on experience, and take part in exclusive events that introduce you to careers in the creative industries and higher education.

Sessions run fortnightly on Tuesday evenings, from 6 – 8 pm. You don’t need any previous experience to apply – just curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to get involved. 


CFF Youth Lab offers participants:

  • In-person workshops, film screenings, talks, discussion groups and more. All activities are free of charge.
  • A friendly, supportive environment to connect with like minded individuals and build industry relationships
  • Mentoring and career support
  • Access to the Cambridge Film Festival


Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be aged 16-24
  • Local to Cambridge / Cambridgeshire
  • Applicants must be available on Tuesday evenings and during the Cambridge Film Festival (October half term)

We actively welcome applications from young people from all backgrounds, especially those who may face barriers to opportunities. This includes individuals who are from working-class or low-income households, have spent time in care, are not currently in education, employment or training (NEET), or are disabled, neurodivergent, or living with long-term health conditions. We also encourage applications from people from Black, Asian, Traveller, mixed heritage and other global majority backgrounds, as well as those who identify as LGBTQIA+ or have experienced mental health challenges. If you’re unsure whether this applies to you, we still encourage you to apply — your perspective is valued.

You can apply now by completing a few basic questions about yourself in the form linked below and then answering three short questions – in writing, audio, or video – whichever you are most comfortable with.
