The Beauty of the Donkey

Synopsis

After six decades in exile, political activist Asslan returns to his village in Kosova, along with his daughter Dea, to retrace his past. Accompanied by a film crew, Dea sets off to recreate the places from her fathers’ childhood that have been destroyed by time and war. Working together with Asslan, she reconstructs his childhood home, and casts family members and neighbours to bring his memories to life. The emerging scenes uncover both joy and heartbreak, as Asslan sets out to finally find out what happened to his mother during the Kosova war in the late 1990s.
