Synopsis

Oleh and Olya are a young queer Ukrainian couple whose New Year's bliss is short-lived, rapidly shattered by Russian missiles and a full-scale invasion of their country. Suddenly, Oleh's gender transition collides with newfound expectations of wartime masculinity, making his connection with Olya a delicate exploration of identities, from the national to the intimate. Isabelle Stever’s complex portrait of queer life during wartime swoons with tenderness, even at times of urgency and contradiction.
