Everyone’s welcome to join San Francisco’s annual Hunky Jesus drag competition. The only rule: Don’t assume ownership over Christ. Since 1979, legendary drag activists Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence have been countered rising evangelical conservatism in San Francisco. Celebrating community, joy, and artistic expression, their unique social justice movement is a living and breathing part of the city. Tracing their history all the way back to the front lines of the AIDS crisis, this documentary celebrates the group and their Easter tradition, while also challenging ideas of religious representation, and what it truly means to embody Christian values.
