The Maynila Country Club is a 74-hectare compound with enough facilities to keep the creme-de-la-creme of Philippine society insulated from the country’s socio-political problems. Amidst all the opulence roams Isabel (Jorrybel Agoto), a quiet and shy 17 year-old who works as a tee-girl on the golf course. Just like Alice, she follows a strange trail of signs to discover what's hidden underneath the surface of luxury and good manners. Filipiñana is Rafael Manuel's debut feature, developed from a short film of the same name, also starring Agoto: a testament to his commitment to film form, consistency, and unravelling mysteries.
