Fortuna, a 14-year-old girl, has had no news of her parents since they crossed the Mediterranean. Together with other refugees, she is given shelter in a Swiss Catholic monastery. While she waits for her fate to be decided by the Swiss authorities, Fortuna finds out she is pregnant. The choices she makes give rise to concern among the religious community, challenging their concept of Christian charity.

The Cambridge Film Festival is presented by the Cambridge Film Trust, a registered charity with a mission to foster film culture and education for the benefit of the public, in Cambridge and the Eastern region but also throughout the UK.
