White Water Cinema

CAMBRIDGE FILM FESTIVAL ON LOCATION presents

WHITE WATER CINEMA

at Lee Valley White Water Centre in Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire

Enjoy two evenings of cinematic thrills and spills under the stars and beside the rapids at the Lee Valley White Water Centre.  This is the UK’s newest and best white water centre  – and the host venue for the Canoe Slalom events at the London 2012 Olympic Games, situated just ten minutes from the M25 in the picturesque River Lee Country Park.  Pack your own picnic – and we’ll provide the popcorn!

Friday 9th September: Johnny Depp’s first – and best – outing as Captain Jack Sparrow in the thrilling action adventure PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL (12, 143 mins).

Saturday 10th September: Dive into a whole new world of underwater adventure with Pixar’s classic FINDING NEMO (U, 100 mins).

Doors will open at 7pm with the films starting as night falls – approximately 8-8.15pm.

Location: Lee Valley White Water Centre, Station Road, Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, EN9 1AB. The Centre is 10 minutes from the M25 (either junction 25 or 26), a 13 minute walk from Waltham Cross train station and a 20 minute walk from Cheshunt train station, which is on the National Express East Anglia line from London Liverpool Street or Cambridge.  The following buses stop on Station Road: 211, 212, 213, 240, 250, 251.  Location information including maps can be downloaded from here.

Ticket information is available by clicking here – you will be able to buy your tickets from Wednesday 20th July by calling 0871 902 5720. Buy your tickets in advance to get a £2 discount on the full ticket price!

Bear in mind that… it will be cold and dark when the events finish, so dress and pack appropriately. Bring a blanket and a brolly (just in case!) Screenings will take place rain or shine, except in cases of severe weather where you will be eligible for a refund. There will be no smoking, no barbecues and no bonfires allowed on site. Well behaved dogs are allowed but will have to be removed if they disturb other customers. There are no cash machines or card facilities at the events. Tickets can be purchased at the events themselves using cash, or by cheque with a guarantee card – subject to availability.

White Water Cinema is part of the Cambridge Film Festival’s innovative events  and training project, The Screen Team.  The Screen Team is a Cambridge Film Trust initiative which is funded by Legacy Trust UK, an independent charity set up to help build a lasting cultural and sporting legacy from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
