Encounters at the End of the WorldIf you missed your chance to grab tickets for the closing night film, Werner Herzog’s ENCOUNTERS AT THE END OF THE WORLD at 8.30pm on 28 September then you might be lucky second time around  – a few tickets have just gone back on sale, so if you’re quick you can join us for a stunning exploration of the isolated community that inhabits one of the most remote places on Earth, Antarctica.

If you’re too late for Herzog how about Greenaway? Peter Greenaway’s NIGHTWATCHING is also showing on Sunday evening, followed by a discussion with this most magical and mysterious director.

There’s plenty of cult buzz surrounding UK premiere of 1000 JOURNALS at 9.15pm tonight at the Arts Picturehouse.  The film documents a project in which one thousand journals were sent out into the world, and filmmaker Andrea Kreuzhage’s attempts to get them back complete with the scribblings of the strangers across the world who came across them.  More details will be revealed through a live Skype Q&A with Andrea after the film.

Also premiering tonight at 8.30pm at The Junction is Adam Clitheroe’s ONE MAN IN THE BAND, a funny and moving exploration of the bizarre world of the one-man band.  The director will be in attendance, and there will also be a special live set from The Man From Uranus.

Finally, we have two late-minute additions to tomorrow’s programme: Jean-Pierre Lledo’s ALGERIA, UNSPOKEN STORIES, which sparked fierce debate at its UK premiere last night, will be  epeated on Saturday at 10am, as will Elia Kazan’s classic A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, which will be starting at 10.15am.

We look forward to seeing you for the final, sparkling, weekend of the 2008 Festival.
