National Geographic photographer James Balog is on a mission: photograph climate change. Creating the Extreme Ice Survey, he headed out across the Arctic to capture photographic evidence of the world's retreating glaciers using time-lapse cameras. But it was never going to be easy. Simply putting the cameras in position demanded risky expeditions to extreme locations in Greenland, Iceland and beyond. Freezing temperatures and equipment failure then challenged Balog and his team beyond human endurance. Nevertheless, their persistence paid off – and fellow team member and director Jeff Orlowski has captured some of the most astounding images ever committed to camera in his documentary about the project. Watch in awe – and more than a little humility – at perhaps the most important story on the planet. Seeing is believing.
