Musician, director and pioneer, Don Letts is an unsung hero of the British music scene. As a DJ at the notorious Roxy club in the mid 1970s he gained a reputation for interspersing hard core punk with dub reggae, defying genre to change the face of an era. This electrifying documentary charts the progression of Bass in the UK in juxtaposition with the legacy of Don’s family: his father, one of the first Jamaican immigrants to Britain; his son, an aspiring Dubstep DJ, and Don himself as he overcomes prejudice and conflict to become a musical legend. The story of three generations in one, this journey both mirrors and informs cultural and creative innovation over the last thirty years.
