Harvest reviews

Review by CFF Student Critics on 28 Sep 2010 HARVEST is a mellow yet comical drama that is set around one particular family and their worries and troubles. From my personal perspective, it has no thorough plot and lacked a sense of stability to keep me interested, however the film does consist of a strong and intense meaning that is based around communication, commitment and loyalty within a family. This not only caught my attention but also tugged on my heartstrings, and so, along with also hitting hard on the matter of life and death, I felt as if I could relate to the characters and their feelings.

The performance of granddad and father Siv was what shone through the most in HARVEST. Looking past the rudeness and swearing, which brings a comical element to the film, the character of Siv was performed wonderfully and I found myself smiling at his gentleness. His wife, who suffers from the heartbreaking condition of Alzheimers, is also gentile and extremely intriguing and in a special way backs up what the film is trying to communicate, while, even though a burden, keeps the family intact through their hard times.

This film is a subtle and emotional roller coaster that easily and brilliantly connects with the audience and brought me to tears. Ignoring the lack of plot and acting talent from the supporting actors, HARVEST is sure to pull at your heart strings and get your eyes filling due to its emotional matters and comical wit.

Review by Andy McKenzie on 26 Sep 2010 The subject matter, deals with situations which we will all come across at sometime in our lives. This film gives opportunity to consider how people deal with life, illness and death on their own terms, and maybe reflect on personal experience too.
