The Fourth Revolution: Energy Autonomy
CAMBRIDGE AFRICAN FILM SEASON
Director: Carl-A. Fechner.
Germany, 2010.
83 mins. German with English subtitles.
Finally, an environmental documentary which leaves everybody not in tears but in hope! Exploring different projects that have begun to utilise renewable energy sources to combat the depleting levels of non-renewable fuels, director Carl-A. Fechner has compiled a reason to believe in a future for our planet. Office buildings that produce more energy than they use, and electric-cars are just a few examples. The difference is that instead of lingering on the problems, THE FOURTH REVOLUTION focuses upon the solutions, also showing that these new methods and technologies are no longer distant dreams, but within our grasp. Concise and thorough, huge in its scope and featuring some great visionary and entrepreneurial minds at work today, the film is beautiful, engaging, thought provoking, and above all, important.
