Animals are my favourite.... reviews

Review by Festival Daily on 21 Sep 2010 ANIMALS ARE MY FAVOURITE AND MY BEST boasted the most well behaved audience of the Festival so far. Balloon wielding fans of the CBeebies television channel flocked to the foyer for the Family Film event, their excitement and anticipation tangible. Following a brief and friendly Q&A on the topic of cinema etiquette, a reverent silence greeted the main feature: a double bill of Tiger Aspect’s popular CHARLIE AND LOLA. The two animations, based on the books by Lauren Child, looked at ways to care for our own domestic animals as well as sparing a thought for the many endangered species in other countries. Lola’s shock diagnosis of chicken pox provoked much sympathetic discussion in between the features; and the comic escapades of Marv’s dog Sizzle were universally appreciated.
TINGA TINGA TALES, featuring various TV celebrity voices including Lenny Henry as Elephant, is a series of animations based on traditional folk tales from Africa. WHY MONKEY SWINGS IN THE TREES taught us to choose the targets of our mischief with caution, especially when on safari. Tiger Aspect frequently uses its childrens' programmes to promote worthy causes, always with a great sense of fun – 50% of the profits from TINGA TINGA TALES have been pledged to develop an educational trust for children in east Africa. Thanks to Heffers and John Lewis for supplying books and craft materials in the Chill Out Zone – however, none of the cinema-goers felt the need to escape the screening; in fact, they were left clamouring for more.
