European Shorts reviews

Review by Mike, St Ives on 20 Sep 2008 4 star rating Very good mix of films. First of my favourite shorts was the quirky comedy 'Tony Zear' by Tony Zoreil. Somehow it's strange premise worked a treat. Ken Ishikawa's 'Dear World' was the other: a contemplative look at the apocalypse (marred slightly by sound problems at this screening). Also liked Andrea Harkin's 'Flyer' with its lovely central performance; 'The Tournament' was interesting; and who could fail to warm to the old man in 'One of the Last'. The only one that didn't work for me was 'Synopsis Docu Drama' - so it was a good job that the projecting equipment chose to go completely haywire during this short and not the others.
